Parent's Day Out
A joyful place for little ones to play, explore, and grow.Parent’s Day Out (PDO) at The Children’s Playroom in Brentwood, TN gives families a dependable two-day rhythm each week in a warm, playful, and nurturing environment. Whether you’re looking for your child’s first group care experience, a little breathing room during the week, or a place for them to build confidence and independence, PDO offers a wonderful balance of care, connection, and play.
About the Program
Parent’s Day Out is a two-day program for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. Families choose either a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule, giving children a consistent weekly routine while still preserving the flexibility families love about a part-time program.
Unlike a traditional preschool model, our PDO is intentionally rooted in play-based learning rather than formal academics or a rigid curriculum. We believe young children learn best through meaningful play, hands-on exploration, imaginative experiences, social interaction, and caring relationships with trusted teachers.
Parent’s Day Out is currently only available at The Children’s Playroom in Brentwood. The 2026-2027 program begins August 10, 2026 and follows the Williamson County school calendar for breaks and closings.

Our Philosophy
At PDO, we focus on early childhood experiences that are age-appropriate, engaging, and joyful. Rather than rushing children into structured academics, we offer an environment where they can learn through play, movement, exploration, creativity, and connection.
Our caregivers guide children through a thoughtful daily rhythm filled with opportunities to:
- Explore toys, materials, and sensory experiences
- Practice sharing, turn-taking, and social interaction
- Build confidence and independence away from home
- Engage in music, movement, stories, art, and imaginative play
- Develop language, curiosity, and problem-solving through hands-on experiences
The result is a program that feels warm, playful, and purposeful, supporting the whole child while giving parents peace of mind that their little one is in a safe, nurturing environment.
What Makes Our PDO Different
Our Parent’s Day Out program offers families the consistency of a school-year schedule with the flexibility and warmth of a part-time childcare option. It’s a wonderful fit for:
- Children who are ready for a gentle introduction to group care
- Families who want a part-time, play-based option during the week
- Little ones who thrive with social interaction, hands-on activities, and a predictable routine
- Parents who value a warm, relationship-based environment without the pressure of early academics
An Added Benefit for PDO Families
Families enrolled in Parent’s Day Out receive 10% off hourly drop-in childcare at The Children’s Playroom. That gives PDO families extra flexibility beyond their scheduled program days, whether you need an occasional date night, an appointment, extra work time, or last-minute childcare support.
